Rivages du Monde Set to Begin World Explorer Summer Program
Well established French river and ocean-cruising company Rivages du Monde is set for a return to the oceans, with the portuguese-built World Explorer, which has been chartered for the 2022 and 2023 Summer seasons.
The World Explorer has spent the last couple of weeks in maintenance and refit works in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, more precisely on the Westsea shipyards, which also built her, and has also received an adequate livery to match the occasion.

Rivages du Monde is using Funchal, capital of the island of Madeira as the port of base for the first couple of cruises, a 9-day program to the Azores archipelago, which is only the beggining of one of the most varied summer-cruising programs that can be found. In the past, Rivages has chartered Astoria, which charter ended in 2020, and now opted for a more modern, smaller and intimate cruise ship.
For instance, departing on the 22nd of May, the World Explorer will set sail from Dunkerque to the Norwegian fjords, including calls in Stavanger, Bergen, Gudvengen, Flam and Geiranger. In July, she will take guests to the Cape North, from Dunkerque, with calls in Bergen, Flam, Olden, Geiranger, Kristiansund, Trondhein, Lofoten Islands, Trollfjord, Honningsvag and Tromso. From Tromso, she will offer an expedition program to the Artic glaciars, with calls in Hornsund, Longyearbyen, and scenic sailings along Greenland's glaciers, such as the Monaco or the Smeeren glaciar.
Iceland is next on the list, with cruises from Reykjavik taking guests to Patreksfjordur, Saudarkrokur, Husavik, Vopnafjordur, Djupivogur and the Vestmann Islands, completing a full circle around Iceland. After completing the Iceland and Greenland program, the World Explorer visits the United Kingdom, including ports like Belfast, Greenock, Oban, Scrabster, Invergordon, Edimburgh or the Isle of Man, aswell as the coastal french cities of Honfleur, Caen, Saint-Malo, Roscoff, Ouessant, Concarnesu or La Rochelle. The final 2022 cruise for Rivages du Monde leaves Bordeaux on the 22nd of September and takes the World Explorer back to Portugal, including calls in Saint-Sebastien, Bilbao, La Coruna, Leixões and Lisbon.
