Piraeus Receives First Cruise Ships of 2022
The port of Piraeus, in Athens, Greece, has received it's first cruise ships of the new year, as the Viking Sky and World Odyssey met in the harbour for their respective calls. The Viking Sky is currently on a repositioning cruise from Istambul, where she departed on the 5th of January, to Civitavecchia, Italy. So far, the Viking Ocean Cruises luxury vessel has called in Canakkale and Kusadasi, Turkey, Rhodes and Heraklion, Greece, before returning to Piraeus for a long call with two overnights. Next is a repeat of the Kusadasi and Heraklion stops, before reaching italian land through Messina, Naples and then Civitavecchia, where she is expected on the 19th of January.

Once in Civitavecchia, the ship will sail a mediterrean program with the possibility of embarking in Piraeus, Civitavecchia and Barcelona. The cruises, 7 to 21 days, visit ports all over the East Mediterrean and the Adriatic Sea, including stops in Croatia, Montenegro, Monaco or France (S¨¨te and Marseille). The program is scheduled to extend year-round, well into 2023, with possibilities of embarkation in Venice added down the line. The World Odyssey is currently operating under the Semester at Sea brand and program, with about a hundred students on board, having arrived yesterday from Napoli and overnighting in Piraeus aswell. As usual, the ship is shared, between the Institute for Shipboard Education - Semester at Sea and Phoenix Reisen, beeing split right down the middle. Currently the World Odyssey, once again, the ship will be renamed Deutschland and refitted back into Phoenix Reisen colors in April, lasting until October 2022, before returning to the Semester brand.
