Brodosplit Signs Contracts Of Over 200 Million Euros For 2 Newbuilds
The new year has brung new opportunities to the Brodosplit shipyards in Croatia, as they have just signed contracts with a combined worth of over 200 million euros, for the building of two newbuilds, one super-luxurious yacht and a polar cruise ship, obviously both with different ownerships and with deliveries set for 2025. This comes as great news for the croatians as the Split shipyard is fighting against the lack of work and liquidity during these pandemic years, reason as to which there have been delays in the payment of monthly wages to the workers, a situation that has been ongoing for a few months already.

Despite the troublesome ride that 2020 and 2021 has been for Brodosplit, Dino Donjerkovic, Brodosplit's Sales Director says they area "Sure to meet the deadlines for 2025. One of the ships will have 125 meters of length, extravagant in various aspects, and a capacity for just 12 passengeres and 50 crew. We will also be building a polar cruise ship, with 110 meters of length for 152 passengers and 111 crew members." Brodosplit is an experienced shipyard in the building of expedition cruise ships, specially for Oceanwide, as the recent buildings of Hondius and Janssonius, both for Oceanwide Expeditions, come to show. No other information was announced to the public or press, but it is possible the polar expedition ship mentioned in the quote by the yard's Sales Director could be an order placed by either Quark or Oceanwide, as the latter is looking to expand with new, modern, world-class expedition cruise ships, a stark contrast to their classic Plancius, also on the fleet, and the first, one of the most experienced polar operators, is also modernizing the fleet, having just recently launched Ultramarine, also built in Brodosplit, one of the most modern expedition vessels afloat.
